Our Story

From the minute I first picked up a crayon, my parents knew something wasn't quite right: I had a horrendous grip. However, by the time my grip began to negatively impact me, it was too late to change it. I was set in my ways. Now, as a college student, I still hold a pencil in a manner that resembles a "death grasp", in which I grip a pencil with my whole fist as if I am holding on for dear life. After years of occupational therapy, I now know my odd grip is due to hypermobility (too much flexibility) in my finger joints. Frustratingly, all of this could have been easily prevented if I had put in the effort to strengthen my fingers at a young age. So that's what I sought out to do, I wanted to better the pencil grips for our youth.

While an improper grip isn't the end of the world by any means, it often provides a lot of discomfort. And if any form of discomfort has an easy fix, then I'm all for it! Thereby setting the preface for Hands on Crayons.

I have more or less devoted my free time in hopes of crafting a crayon that would encourage the "perfect pencil grasp". And as of today, I've come up with a crayon that I know you little ones will love.
